Music Ministry

A rich music ministry has long been a central focus of our life together at TPC. Our Chancel Choir, led by Kibsaim Escarcega, and accompanied by our organist, Dr. Dennis Siebenaler, is a deeply committed group of singers who express their faith through music and as members of Christ’s body. Our mission style sanctuary is graced by a 53-rank Wicks pipe organ. Our music ministry includes choirs for all ages as well as a handbell choir for children and adults.

Our worship services are fresh and carefully crafted so that anthems, hymns, scripture passages and preaching all work together to enhance one another. The music in our Sunday morning worship services is normally based on the scriptures designated for that Sunday. The Chancel Choir leads us in worship every Sunday morning. Several times each year the Handbell Choir also presents music during the worship services.

Special music programs are also presented each year. These have included: MASS IN B-FLAT by Haydn, Bach’s Cantata, BWV 106 “Gottes Zeit Ist die Allerbeste Zeit” (God’s Time Is the Best Time of All), Mozart’s REQUIEM, the REQUIEM by Gabriel Fauré, and MISSA BREVIS by Zoltán Kodály. At Easter, there is special music with organ and instrumentalists. A highlight of the year is a Christmas concert featuring all of the groups and individuals who take part in the TPC Music Ministry.

The Chancel Choir has a wonderful time as we make music together and help to lead the TPC congregation in worship. In addition to the regular music each Sunday morning, we perform special music for All Saints’ Sunday, Christmas Eve, and Easter. Everyone who loves to sing is invited to join. No experience is necessary. Yes … it IS hard work … learning all those notes, giving up every Thursday evening and Sunday morning, sometimes leaving your family for a special rehearsal (which doesn’t happen very often), or getting up from the dinner table on Christmas Eve to get to an 8:00 p.m. warm-up rehearsal before the 9:00 p.m. service. Many of our singers have done that for over 30 years … some with very young children! So … if THEY can do it, YOU can do it too!

The audition is simple. If you can find the Choir Room … you’ve made it! If you can’t devote the time… well… there are many other activities at TPC to choose from … you’ll find something.

If you have any questions about the Chancel Choir, please call Kibsaim Escarcega at the church…… 714-544-7070, ext.109.
