By now, most of you have heard that our beloved youth director, Ashley Riopka, will be leaving us to pursue her teaching career. She is gifted both in music and in working with and motivating youth. She will be a natural working in our public school system to bring out the natural ability of the young people God sends her way. She will also be a great role model for them. We wish her and her family well as she steps into this new role that God has so richly gifted her to fulfill. We will, of course, miss her deeply, but know that God is taking her to the place where she can most effectively impact our world for God.
Her leaving, however, leaves an important ministry here at TPC without a leader, but, as always, God is faithful. We have received a gift that will allow us to expand our Youth Director position to full-time and fund it through the end of 2019. In addition to providing leadership to our youth ministry, the position will be expanded to include helping us design and launch the alternative worship service that is part of our three-year-plan. This expanded position will not only help us to walk with youth and nurture their faith, but will also help us launch a new ministry that will help us reach more people with Christ’s message of love and forgiveness and invite them to hear His call to follow Him.
Please pray for the person that God is preparing to send to us and pray for the search committee and Session as we seek to discern God’s guidance. I am excited to see what God will do in and through the team that God is bringing together here, and let us all trust that “the one who began a good work among us will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)
